HTC Legend Sample Photos
Close-Up Sample Image
Close-up pictures are pretty impressive with the HTC Legend, especially with the manually selectable focus point.

Bright Sample Image
Very bright, sunlit daytime shot. Despite the perfect conditions, there is surprising amounts of noise and lack of detail.
Scaled Down Image:1024 x 683 [180Kb]Original Image: 2592 x 1728 [1.62Mb]
Dark Sample Image
Dark late evening shot set manually to 800 ISO (the highest setting). Very noisy and not sharp either.
Lower ISO settings were hopelessly blurry and camera shake was unavoidable, so ISO 800 was the only realistic option. Scaled Down Image:1024 x 683 [151Kb]Original Image: 2592 x 1728 [1.60Mb]
Conclusions
Close-up performance of the HTC Legend's camera is pretty decent, but that's the camera's best aspect. The camera doesn't embed photos with much EXIF data so we can't see the exact shutter speed detail, but low light performance, especially, is very poor.
HTC Legend vs HTC Desire
The camera spec is the same as the HTC Desire's camera so I was expecting the two phones to share the same hardware, but clearly they don't. The two phones share the same version of Android (2.1 currently) so all the settings and on-screen displays are the same. All the examples above have also been tested on the Desire and are vastly superior, even though the Desire's isnt the best camera either.
